The fourth edition of OpEx MENA 2016 - Operational Excellence in Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals Conference highlighted the importance of operational excellence in assisting energy companies to maximise production and improve efficiency.
Inaugurating the event, Mr Stefan Chapman, Vice President of Euro Petroleum Consultants (EPC) said that in today’s challenging business environment, operational excellence is more important than ever.” Delivering a keynote speech, Dr Waddah S. Ghanem Al Hashimi , EHSSQ & Corporate Affairs Executive Director of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) said “OE has become very significant today as the economics of operation have changed to focus today on managing costs and safety”. A general consensus between speakers at the event was that the human factor is key to the success of reaching operational excellence.
The two-day event included six sessions covering key topics related to operational excellence including human factors and training, sustainability and HSE, operational effectiveness, implementation and benchmarking, asset performance and reliability, asset optimisation and productivity as well as enabling technologies.
The event was an opportunity for operating companies in the Middle East to share their success stories in reaching for operational excellence at their plants, as well as learning how they can improve their efforts in the future.
Excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the experiences of others in the field of Operational Excellence.
— BAPCOThe conference presentations were perfectly split between case studies and new technologies. Case studies presented by plants in the GCC area showed we are almost marking on the same initiatives, however new technologies presented proved there is always room for improvement.
