WELCOME TO OPEX MENA 2018
It is now a given that striving towards Operational Excellence is critical for oil, gas and petrochemical operators as well as for the manufacturing and industrial sectors in general. Operators need to increase their margins and tightly control costs, whilst ensuring that safety and reliability are not compromised. Effective leadership is essential in managing the process of continuous improvement and ensuring that employees are empowered with data, information and procedures transparently in a role-based manner to assist in fast, accurate actions which lead to consistently good decisions.
Join us at OPEX MENA 2018 where the major operators in the region will share case studies that outline their challenges, successes and key learnings. We will also hear from industry leaders, solutions providers and key consultants on the latest trends, tools and techniques that will drive us to even greater levels of operational excellence improvements, allowing companies to innovate in the areas of ‘people’, ‘process’, ‘assets’ and ‘technology’.

WORKSHOP BY SOLOMON ASSOCIATES
Reliability & Maintenance Fundamentals, Benchmarking & Performance Improvement
This workshop will explain the important fundamental principles of Reliability and Maintenance, and will explain the concepts of performance monitoring and performance improvement. Specifically, the workshop will provide a detailed discussion of the learning from the Solomon Associates global Reliability and Maintenance Benchmark study. The Solomon RAM study provides real data to illustrate the achievements of the better performers, and the financial value of performance improvement. The presentation will share some key lessons that can be learned from the study, in order to help organisations understand:
- Characteristics of high performing organisations
- Where to focus improvement efforts
- What actions to take andwhattargets to set
- How to monitor the performance improvements
- What results to expect
The workshop will explain how to calculate the value of Reliability and Maintenance performance improvement and demonstrate that the appropriate actions for an organisation to take depend on the nature of the performance gap, not just its magnitude. The workshop will conclude with a discussion of performance monitoring and performance improvement, and will utilize Solomon Associate’s experience and insights into the actions taken by high performing organisations in relentless pursuit of performance excellence.
TRAINING COURSES
08:30–16:30
Excellence in Process Safety
Management
This course will take the participants through the stages of process safety and environmental management in a straight forward and practical manner. The course is interspersed with practical examples and hands on application of the techniques required to successfully strengthen the process safety management in your organisations. It will demonstrate why unexpected events can develop out of control and how barriers can be implemented to halt the progress of the consequences. The sessions will cover a range of existing techniques to the latest approaches to integrating safety into the "mind" of the corporate culture.
08:30–16:30
Operational Excellence in Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals
In today’s volatile business environment, organisations need to create competitive advantage in order to be successful. In the GCC, significant investments have been made in new plants which now must be run optimally in order to achieve world class performance. Organisations are now developing Operational Excellence strategies in order to maximise asset performance.
This course is designed to share the principles of Operational Excellence and to give practical strategies that can be applied in continuous process environments. The course will focus on both the people dimension of OE, together with practical ideas for implementation in oil, gas and petrochemical facilities.

It is widely recognised that organisations must develop their technical safety journey, focusing on their plant, safety, reliability and human interfaces in order to achieve the target of no surprises and zero accidents. A focus on safety is the number one priority for companies, with operators, manufacturers, suppliers and consultants developing innovative and effective solutions in these areas.
The Gulf Safety Forum again brings together international and local key industry experts from across the region to discuss strategies for continuous improvement of safety processes and procedures, as well as share successful case studies and roadmaps.
The event will incorporate the second edition of the GSF Safety Award.
