From the interesting discussions a number of important topic discussions have helped shape the agenda for ME-TECH 2023 including the further development of opportunities arising from the region’s competitive advantage; Market Tightness: Impact of ban on Russian Crude & Products, identifying and taking the best adapted downstream refining & petrochemical routes, Project financing – Investing in Projects, sharing project risks involved, addressing the question of Energy Security & the Future of O&G, and changing the perception of the Industry - being seen as part of the solution.

It is clear that the downstream industry is faced with a number of challenges, with changing markets and a clear drive towards greater sustainability and decarbonisation. There is a mandate to provide cleaner energy and this is a priority for all are involved. Wart is also evident is that refined & petrochemical products will continue to play a major role in the future energy mix.

During ME-TECH 2023 we will have the opportunity to hear from Richard Charlesworth, Executive Director - S&P Global Commodity Insights, on the Outlook for Refining and Petrochemicals: Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place: looking at:

  • The global refining and petrochemical trends as the world faces a new geopolitical era with oil market uncertainties.
  • Whether financial performance can be maintained in the face of the CAPEX & OPEX required for decarbonisation targets?
  • What technologies, carbon reduction incentives and product premiums are needed to enable and meet the cost of these targets?

We will also have the privilege to hear from TOTALENERGIES on SATORP’s expansion project ‘AMIRAL’.

The event will continue with presentations from leading technology licensors and solution providers on topics such as refining and petrochemical integration, energy efficiency improvements, lowering carbon intensity of processing units, catalysts innovations, projects executions and more. Interactive panel discussions, connecting our speakers with the audience, will be one of the main highlights of ME-TECH 2023:

  • Our Keynote Panel Discussion - Looking ahead to 2030 & Beyond, will focus on the multi-billion dollar petrochemical push in the ME region. Our distinguished panel will include representatives from leading producers, leading licensors and leading Engineering companies: ARAMCO, SATORP, Honeywell UOP & WOOD. The panel will be moderated by Süleyman Ozmen, Managing Director, 3P18 INDEPENDENT CONSULTANTS LLC
  • Our second panel will be focused on Preparing the Downstream Industry of MENA Countries for the Tightened Export-Import Requirements - looking at the current specifications for liquid fuels in view of gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel? How will the downstream sector in MENA adapt to these specifications? Emissions: How to meet carbon intensity reduction targets and contribute to the climate goals? Our distinguished panel will include representatives ADNOC Refining, Axens, Sulzer and TCG and will be moderated by Valentin Kotlomin, Consulting Manager, ARGUS Media.

With a strong technical agenda, designed specifically for the region’s downstream producers and operators needs, coupled with excellent networking and knowledge sharing opportunities, ME-TECH 2023 has generated strong interest, setting up this year’s forum to be once again the premier downstream event in the Middle East.

ME-TECH 2023 will also play host on the 16th May to pre-conference seminars hosted by two downstream key players and technology providers:

  • ‘Stronger Together: How Collaborations Are a Game-Changer for the Downstream Industry’ hosted by WOOD
