I'm Interested in the CourseGreen Refining Technologies Training Course
Refineries and fuels production facilities are vast, complex businesses – capital intensive and technologically advanced. Decisions today will impact the technical and commercial operation for years, even decades in the future.
External drivers – fuel specifications, sustainability regulations, carbon emission targets, raw material supply and economic goals all combine to create a very challenging business environment.
Understanding the sustainability and decarbonization technologies and drivers in fuel production and how these can be combined in a refinery complex - is key to enhanced and sustained profitability.
This course is designed to share the principal drivers for sustainability and decarbonisation for refinery operations. It will focus on operational aspects and technology solutions and their potential for integration with the existing refinery operations.
This course will be of great interest to all personnel involved in refinery design, configuration and operations.
Why Attend

To introduce and illustrate sustainability and decarbonization approaches in the context of crude oil refining and to enable understanding of the integration potential with existing operations:
- By description of operating and maintenance parameters and KPIs in terms of CO2 intensity or reduction
- By introducing technologies driving CO2 intensity reductions
- By considering the integration and challenges of sustainable fuels to existing refining facilities and processes

A range of illustrative case studies and exercises will be presented during the workshop to support the discussions about the subject matter and will be introduced through individual and syndicate working.
Examples and case studies will be enhanced by up-to-date information provided by industry partners participating in this training course. This will include:
- Impact of Carbon pricing on project economics and technology selection
- Lowering CO2 emissions by process technology selection

By the end of the course delegates will:
- Understand operational excellence and KPIs can be used to identify CO2 intensity reductions
- Understand why and how sustainability and CO2 intensity reduction increase refining complexity
- Be able to identify the key CO2 intensity reduction technologies
- Understand how sustainability and CO2 intensity reduction impact fuel production choices
- Name key impacts on future refinery operations resulting from CO2 intensity reduction
- Understand how waste management and recycling impact the refinery CO2 balance
